Ongoing research dating back to 1984 indicates that AEPS is both reliable and valid for both typically developing as well as developmentally delayed children. In studies, AEPS helped professionals improve their assessment process, intervention as well as quality of their written IEP/IFSP goals (Assessment, Evaluation, and Programming System for Infants and Children (AEPS®), Second Edition.  Bricker, D., Capt, B., & Pretti-Frontczak, K. (2002).  Baltimore, MD: Paul H. Brookes Publishing)

AEPS will be used by the MindChamps Allied Care Early Intervention Programme teachers and therapist to:

  • Write Individual Education Plan goals and objectives that are meaningful and realistic
  • Create embedded learning opportunities related to prioritize Individual Education Plan goals and objectives
  • Link between assessment, goal development and the activity-based approach to intervention
  • Effectively monitor children’s progress toward Individual Education Plan goals and objectives embedded throughout daily activities

MindChamps Allied Care Early Intervention Programme (EIP Programme) aims to equip children aged 18 months old to 6 years old with skillsets in the following 5 key areas, so that they would be prepared for primary school (for either mainstream primary school or SPED)

  • Cognition and perception
  • Communication and language
  • Social skills
  • Fine and gross motor skills
  • Self-help skills

MindChamps Allied Care’s Early Intervention Programme (EIP Programme) core intervention approach will utilise a curriculum and criterion based system – The Assessment, Evaluation and Programming System (AEPS®) which serves to

  •  identify children’s strengths and emerging skills across developmental areas
  • identify functional goals and objectives for Individual Education Plans (IEP)s or other individualized plans
  • assist in planning and guiding intervention
  • monitor children’s progress over time

We understand that caregivers play a crucial role in Early Intervention Programme (EIP Programme) as they spend the most time with the child. As caregivers are a key to ensuring continuity through transfer of learning from our centre to the home and school, we aim to equip caregivers with the necessary skills and knowledge to be confident in facilitating the child in doing so. Besides working closely with caregivers, we will also work closely with the child’s schools, other allied health professionals and doctors.

What does this mean to your child?

The long-term outcome of MindChamps Allied Care Early Intervention Programme (EIP Programme) is readiness for school, be it at a mainstream or SPED school. MindChamps Allied Care will work towards integrating your child into mainstream preschool settings upon progress and improvement where possible.

Your child would be cared for by a special needs teacher and a teacher’s assistant. You may also choose to tap on our multi-disciplinary team of Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, and Child Psychologists to work with your child according to his/her needs.  This is subjected to an additional fee.

You will receive an Individual Education Plan for your child within 6 weeks of enrolment.

This Individual Education Plan allows the  team to work towards achieving the goals set for your child. Each child has his/her own Individual Education Plan, where goals are set based on the child’s developmental needs as assessed by professionals and in consultation with caregivers as well. This Individual Education Plan is reviewed together with caregivers every 6 months.
