Joey Lee Zu Yee
Associate Educational Therapist
Joey Lee graduated from Northumbria University with a BA (Hons) in Psychology. She has many years of experience working with children with special needs across various ages, levels of functioning and diagnoses, including Autism, ADHD, GDD, Down syndrome and Speech Delays etc.
Through her working experience, she has acquired relevant training to equip herself with the right skills and knowledge to support children with cognitive, behavioural and learning challenges. Joey is well versed in her individualisation of intervention in her 1:1 and group sessions. She is currently attending Dyslexia & Literacy Teaching course to equip the skills in supporting students with learning challenges.
Throughout the years, she is proficient in recognizing each child’s learning needs and able to craft personalised learning goals. Joey utilises multi-sensory age-appropriate techniques for optimal learning. She strongly agrees that learning through play gives children opportunities to gain essential knowledge and skills. She employs different mediums to aid children in self-expression and help them better cope with emotional regulation.
Joey has supported special needs students in mainstream settings as she helped children with different developmental and learning needs integrate into mainstream schools through the use of targeted strategies. She also liaised closely with parents and schools to create an environment best suited for the child’s learning needs.
“If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.” She believes that children are capable of learning in any circumstances possible given the correct tools to learn. The philosophy has guided her as a special needs educator to show students that learning is not limited in any way.
